FamilySearch Data Use Disclosure

Overview
MyLegacySpace.ai integrates with FamilySearch, a service operated by FamilySearch International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making the world's genealogically relevant data freely available. This disclosure explains how we use FamilySearch data within our Service and the terms that apply to your use of that data.
How the Integration Works
* User-Initiated Connection: To access FamilySearch data through our Service, you must connect your own FamilySearch account via OAuth authentication. We do not access FamilySearch data on your behalf without your explicit authorization.
* What We Access: When you connect your FamilySearch account and use our record matching features, we search FamilySearch's database for historical records that may relate to your family members. Data retrieved includes: names, dates (birth, marriage, death), locations, gender, and family relationships.
* Authentication: We use OAuth 2.0 to authenticate with FamilySearch. Your FamilySearch username and password are never stored by our Service. We store only a temporary access token, which you can revoke at any time by disconnecting your FamilySearch account in Settings.
Data Storage & Minimization
* Minimal Storage: We store only the minimum data necessary to display match suggestions in your account: names, dates, locations, and a match confidence score. Raw API responses from FamilySearch are not retained.
* No Bulk Storage: We do not maintain a local copy or cache of FamilySearch's database. Searches are performed on demand or during periodic background scans using your stored access token.
Your Obligations
By using FamilySearch data through our Service, you agree to the following:
* Personal, Non-Commercial Use Only: Data obtained from FamilySearch through our Service is for your personal, non-commercial genealogical research only. You may NOT sell, lease, sublicense, redistribute, or make commercially available any data obtained from FamilySearch.
* No Scraping or Bulk Extraction: You agree not to systematically download, scrape, or bulk-extract FamilySearch data via our Service.
* FamilySearch Terms of Use: Your use of FamilySearch data is additionally governed by FamilySearch's Terms of Use. In the event of a conflict between this disclosure and FamilySearch's terms, the more restrictive terms shall apply.
* Accuracy: FamilySearch data is provided "as-is." We do not warrant the accuracy or completeness of any data obtained from FamilySearch. You are responsible for verifying all information before relying on it.
Disconnecting Your FamilySearch Account
You may disconnect your FamilySearch account at any time through Settings > Account > Connected Services. Upon disconnection:
* Your stored OAuth access token is immediately cleared.
* Previously matched records will remain visible in your account but will no longer be refreshed with new data from FamilySearch.
* You can reconnect at any time by re-authenticating with FamilySearch.
Changes to This Disclosure
FamilySearch may modify or terminate API access at any time. If changes to the FamilySearch integration materially affect how your data is used, we will update this disclosure and notify you.
