Community Guidelines
Last Updated: 04/01/2026
MyLegacySpace.ai is a genealogy and memorial platform where families preserve and share their histories. These Community Guidelines set expectations for respectful, constructive interaction. They apply to all user-generated content, including family tree data, posts, comments, messages, photos, and memorial pages.
These guidelines supplement our Terms and Conditions. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or termination.
Core Principles
Be Respectful
* Treat all users with dignity and respect, even during disagreements about family history.
* Remember that behind every profile is a real person or a real family's memory.
* Do not post content that is harassing, threatening, defamatory, or hateful.
Be Honest
* Provide accurate genealogical information to the best of your knowledge.
* Do not deliberately falsify family records, relationships, or historical data.
* If you are unsure about information, indicate it as unverified rather than presenting it as fact.
Respect Privacy
* Do not share personal information (addresses, phone numbers, emails) of living individuals without their consent.
* Respect others' privacy settings and visibility preferences.
* Do not use the platform to "dox" or expose private information about any individual.
Genealogy-Specific Guidelines
Conflicting Family Data
Different family members may have different records or recollections. This is normal in genealogy.
* Do not demand removal of another user's data simply because it conflicts with yours.
* Use the platform's tools (edit suggestions, comments) to collaborate on resolving discrepancies.
* We do not adjudicate genealogical disputes. See our Terms, Section 5.4 for our neutrality policy.
Deceased Persons
* Treat information about deceased individuals with respect and sensitivity.
* Do not post content about deceased persons that is defamatory, disrespectful, or that would cause unnecessary distress to living relatives.
* Memorial pages are intended to honor and remember; use them accordingly.
Living Relatives
* Obtain consent before adding detailed personal information or photos of living individuals to your family tree.
* Living individuals have the right to request removal of their personal data from others' trees (the "Right to Unlink").
Prohibited Content & Behavior
The following are strictly prohibited:
* Illegal content or content that promotes illegal activity.
* Hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
* Harassment, bullying, or threats directed at any user.
* Nudity, sexual content, or graphic violence (historical photos containing violence in proper genealogical context may be excepted at our discretion).
* Spam, unsolicited advertising, or commercial solicitation.
* Malicious software or links to harmful content.
* Impersonation of other users, public figures, or MyLegacySpace.ai staff.
* Copyright infringement. See our DMCA Policy.
Content Moderation
How We Moderate
* We use a combination of automated tools and human review to monitor content.
* Users can report content or behavior that violates these guidelines using the report feature on any post, comment, or profile.
Consequences
Violations are handled on a graduated basis depending on severity:
We reserve the right to skip steps in this process for severe violations.
